UFindPoker.. Tutorial Animation for the Iphone application.

My Personal project was to design structure and create 3-4 minutes long user guide tutorial video  for a real Application which is going to be feautured on Apple’s App store.

Tutorial movie. I have chose this topic mainly bacause I found it difficul to structure  and prorytarise informations efficiently. The creative  part of this project is : research, storyboards (which you can find in my sketchbook),  scenario, Infopraphics, Time line. Making the overall look and feel of the movie.
The App itself is a serching engine specifically made for finding live poker games and tournaments in relation to the user.
My task was to effectivelly communicate how to use an aplication in a clear succint manner. It is presumed the intended viewers will want to dedicate the minimal time required to be able to use the app proficiently , so the movie will need to project as much informationas possible.
In this project I was using a number of thechniques such as semantics, graphical representation and advertising methods to make it interesting and vibrant.
I have started my project with researching information aout poker industry. I have decided to make my research in form of collage, which expressing 4 general aspects of poker - money, competition, chic and sex.
Stucturing and priorytising informations.
Planning scenes one by one, story bords, directing scenes, put them in sequence, learn software.
Apart from tutorial movie I have also designed an Informative timeline board displaing  time duration of indyvidual actions and tasks I had to approach in order to create a movie.
I have create an infographic to show the informations relevant to the tut movie, to structure its importance of the futures .

Searching for beauty.. first approach to the project..

And the second draft..

And the final pieces..

My 30 second stop motion movie projects my opinion about my notions of beauty.
Beauty that draws attention to one’s self can do so in such a way that it makes the person into an object.
With this in mind, I wanted to highlight that beauty isnt based solely on our appearance, but rather the heart and mind.
A picture of a beautiful face which has been torn from a newspaper, crushed and thrown away depicting the short lifecycle of surface beauty and acts as a methaphor of how objects are generally treated.
Shouldn’t we question why human nature does treat people like this?
We’ve all heard the maxim, “You can’t judge a book by its cover.” and, yet, that’s exactly what many of tend to do. We tend to make instinctive purchases based on the outer packaging of a product, sometimes disregarding the actual product itself. I’m sure most of us have selected a wine, not by its vintage, but by the label. The reason is simple; most of us don’t have enough information to give a truly educated opinion about the contents of the bottle, so we look for other signs.

I used the golden section as an iconic background element suggesting a symbol of perfection, to emphasise the meaning of my message.

Magazine about magazines

As far as I remember editorial design has always been my passion this is why as my final major project , I have chosen to design a Typographic Magazine. It highlights many feautures commonly found in most magazines. and the captivating techniques to communicate to its intended market.
My main reason for taking this particular project on was to learn how to create interesting layouts and to find out more information about publishing in general.
I was inspired by Bauchaus design. Each page has used a different layout and choice of typeface to emphasise its subject matter and reflect an individual characteristic of the magazine.

I screen printed the whole publication because although it is the most demanding print method, i believe it is also the most personal and gives an authentic feel to the finished article.
The cover of the magazine represents visual journalism, the eye reflects a main point and the advertising trick .. - poster is yelling at you-  read content pages ...
As screen-printing is not an exact medium to work with, I have attached a digital copy for your reference and comparison to how the overall feel of the magazine had it been printed inline with more commonly found runs such as litho and digital.
